Matthew M. Gannon concentrates his practice in personal injury, construction negligence, product liability, medical malpractice, and workers’ compensation.
Mr. Gannon has repeatedly earned excellent results for his clients. His long record of winning verdicts in complex cases and securing seven and eight figure results has earned him a reputation as one of the top personal injury attorneys in Illinois. In recognition of his outstanding legal work, Mr. Gannon was named as one of Illinois “40 Attorneys Under 40” by the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin.
In every year that Mr. Gannon has been an attorney, he has been selected as an Illinois Emerging Lawyer, an honor bestowed to less than 2% of all attorneys licensed in Illinois. In 2015, he was appointed to the Board of Advocates by the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association. He was also elected to the Board of Managers of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, a position he has held since 2016.
Mr. Gannon recently obtained a settlement in excess of $20 million due to an explosion that caused severe burn injuries to his client. This case was resolved after multiple mediations and the terms of the settlement must remain confidential.
Mr. Gannon also obtained an $8.55 million result for a construction laborer who suffered a crush injury involving multiple fractures of his leg. While litigating this case, Mr. Gannon was able to show that the general contractor in charge of the work site failed to appropriately stage the phases of work during construction. In addition, Mr. Gannon uncovered evidence that the equipment that caused the injury was not being properly supervised at the time of the occurrence.
After a multi-week trial in Cook County, Mr. Gannon obtained a $4.6 million verdict in a medical malpractice case for a
grandmother who experienced complications during an
angiogram procedure. Later that year, Mr. Gannon underwent
another multi-week trial in Morgan County and obtained
a $2.5 million verdict in a product liability case for the family of a 20-year-old who was killed in a pole-vaulting accident. This was the highest ever recorded verdict in Morgan County history.
Mr. Gannon is a third-generation union member. During and post- college, he operated heavy equipment as a Local 150 Operating Engineer. He has extensive experience representing the labor community and has dedicated his practice to serving union members throughout the country.
Mr. Gannon earned his undergraduate degree with honors from Merrimack College in Massachusetts, where he attended on a football scholarship. He earned his law degree from the University of Illinois-Chicago School of Law, where he excelled in the advanced trial advocacy program.
